Tyler has really taken an interest in Legos over the past few weeks. We bought a few sets at Target, he can sit & play with them for hours at a time. When I learned LEGOLAND was opening in Atlanta at Phipps Plaza this weekend - we planned the trip.

I was a little worried after on-line ticket sales SOLD OUT and hearing about long lines @ Grand Opening on Saturday. The kids, me and Rachel woke up at 630AM to be the first in line.

success.
Even if you aren't 1st in line there are the nifty LEGO pods for the kids to play in while you wait. Tyler could have never entered and still had a ball-- there were 1000s of LEGOs in this pod.

I can not say enough about the staff at Legoland- so great, comparable to Disney. The first 'stop' is a movie room (holding room) about 50 people hold at a time. There were 2 complete LEGO statues and (1) little LEGO guy moving his feet through a tube. Kids thought this was pretty cool- but after about 2 minutes they were ready to move on. We were held for maybe 5-7 minutes.

The next room showed how LEGOs were made- there are a few interactive gadgets but the best part was the FREE commemorative LEGOLAND lego.

The ride was next. Kingdom Quest. This was a little less than impressive to me- but Tyler liked it because of course he got to shoot a laser gun. I would have liked to see a little more actual LEGO statues and exhibits throughout the ride- for the most part is was a movie with LEGO characters. (I didn't get any actual photos from this part) This was taken from their website.

I LOVED LOVED the next section. It was the entire city of Atlanta built in LEGOs. My favorites were :

The Georgia Dome / Atlanta Falcons

Turner Field / Atlanta Braves

The Georgia Aquarium.
... all built completely from LEGOs. They also had Fox Theatre, Westin, The Capitol, The Varsity, Stone Mountain and TNN (TBS). Pretty Cool - and it went from day to night with fireworks during the night where the LEGO buildings glowed. Nice Job for sure.
Then for the FUN PART.... one big room of LEGOs plus a cafeteria (where with an annual membership you get 20% off all food). Tyler loved this part.

Merlin's Apprentice Ride- which actually flies.

my sister @ the Master Builder's Academy.

Tyler with his Animal Kingdom from the LEGO pits.
HUGE Construction Play Area, Race Track where you build your own cars and karaoke for kids.

Plus a 4D Theatre with a REALLY cool movie... get ready though, you will get wet.

We all had so much fun. Tickets were $20 for adults and $15 for children. Well worth the money- so much in fact we bought the Annual Pass and Tyler is already asking me when are we going back- he says "maybe Friday".... Good thing we bought 600 LEGOs to bring home- hopefully that will keep him occupied becuase Mommy is busy this weekend with :

YES, we will be at Saturday River Market this weekend. Sneak Peek coming later this week :)
Chattanooga River Market: Tennessee Aquarium 10a-5p / March 24.
